(Mecoptera: Panorpidae) Scorpion fly Panorpa, Torsby, Värmland (Sweden, June). A relatively good flyer with a curious snout with mandibles at the end. Three species in Sweden. Live on dead insects, rotting plants, and flower nectar. They are known to steal insects caught in spider webs, where the scorpion fly is not affected by the web (Douwes et al. 1998).
